Applies to JPG and WebP. Higher means a larger file.

JPG has no transparency, so transparent parts are filled with this color.

    Which format should you pick?

    • JPG is best for photos and is accepted almost everywhere, including most upload forms.
    • PNG is lossless and keeps transparency. It suits logos, screenshots and graphics with sharp edges.
    • WebP makes smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar quality and keeps transparency. Most websites and browsers support it.

Everything is converted inside your browser, so your images are never uploaded. If a file is already in the format you chose, it is kept as is.

    Print or web: choosing quality

For a photo that will only be seen on a screen, a lower quality setting usually looks the same and gives a much smaller file. For a photo you plan to print, keep quality high and keep the full pixel size, because print shows flaws that a small screen hides. When in doubt, convert a copy, look at it at full size, and only then use it.

    Questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and your files stay on your device.

Can it convert PNG to JPG?

Yes. Choose JPG. Transparent areas are filled with the background color you pick, white by default.

Can it convert WebP to JPG or PNG?

Yes. Add the WebP files, choose JPG or PNG, and download the result.

    Does it convert HEIC photos?

Only where your browser can open HEIC, which today means Safari on Apple devices. In other browsers the file is reported as unreadable.

    Does converting reduce quality?

PNG output is lossless. JPG and WebP are lossy, so a lower quality setting makes a smaller file with slightly less detail. The default is a good balance.
