Image merger
PNG is lossless. JPG and WebP are not.
Merging without losing quality
With Keep originals, each image is copied onto the canvas pixel for pixel and saved as PNG, which is lossless. The merged file contains exactly the pixels of your originals.
Matching sizes needs resampling. Match smallest only ever scales images down, so nothing is enlarged. Match largest scales smaller images up, which softens them, so use it only when you need a uniform look.
Good to know
- Your images are merged in your browser and never uploaded.
- Use Up and Down to change the order. The first image goes first, or top-left.
- Some devices cannot create very large canvases. If yours cannot, the tool reduces the result as little as possible and tells you.
- JPG cannot be transparent, so transparent areas use your background color.
Planning a merged image
Decide the layout before you add photos. Side by side works for a before-and-after pair, a stack works for a long list or a story, and a grid keeps several photos in one square view. Put the photos in order first, because the first image goes first or top-left.
Questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Merging happens in your browser and the images stay on your device.
Will merging reduce image quality?
Not with Keep originals and PNG. Every pixel is copied unchanged. JPG and WebP are lossy formats, so choose a high quality setting if you need them.
How do I change the order?
Use the Up and Down buttons next to each image. The order is the order of the merged result.
What is the difference between the match options?
Keep originals never scales anything. Match smallest scales bigger images down to the smallest one. Match largest scales smaller images up to the largest, which can soften them.
Why was my result reduced?
Browsers limit how large a canvas can be, and phones limit it most. If the merged image would be larger than your device allows, the tool scales it down just enough and shows the final size.
Can I merge photos of different sizes?
Yes. Keep originals keeps each photo unchanged, while the match options resize photos to a common size. Match smallest only scales down; match largest can scale smaller photos up and soften them.
Why does my merged image look soft?
That usually happens when a smaller photo is scaled up to match a larger one. Use Keep originals or Match smallest to avoid enlarging a photo.
